Social rights: inclusion without exceptions<\/strong>
In recent days, a petition has circulated addressed to the governor and legislators of the province of R\u00edo Negro, proposing to reject the granting of lifetime pensions to transgender individuals. As with many sensitive issues, the debate has sparked diverse \u2014 and at times intense \u2014 positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, beyond individual opinions, there is a principle worth recalling calmly: it is the legal framework that determines who has access to social benefits, not the personal or identity characteristics of citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contemporary civil societies are built upon a fundamental agreement: equality before the law. When a person meets the requirements established by current regulations, their access to rights and benefits should not be conditioned by social, cultural, or ideological perceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, social protection systems are not designed to grant privileges, but to correct inequalities and ensure minimum conditions of dignity. Their purpose is to integrate, not to exclude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social inclusion, understood as public policy, implies recognizing that certain groups may face greater structural obstacles. The institutional response, in such cases, is not marginalization, but the expansion of opportunities within the legal framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This does not invalidate the citizens\u2019 right to debate, question, or propose changes to public policies. The exchange of ideas is an essential part of democratic life. But such debate is strengthened when it is grounded in respect, legality, and social cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a time when public discussion can easily become polarized, it is useful to return to the essentials: a just society does not choose whom to protect based on identity, but based on rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because when the law recognizes, society follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when society includes, democracy grows stronger.
