The gravest crisis since the start of the war in Ukraine erupted last night when 19 Russian drones violated Polish airspace. Fighter jets from Poland, the Netherlands and Italy shot them down in an unprecedented air defense operation.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk called it a “large-scale provocation” and requested the activation of NATO Article 4, warning that the situation is “the most dangerous since the Second World War.”
Europe reacted with unanimous condemnation: Macron called the attack “unacceptable,” Lithuania denounced a “deliberate act of aggression,” and Czech leader Petr Fiala said Putin “is testing how far he can go.”
NATO is holding an emergency meeting in Brussels. The looming question is whether this “buzz” will remain a rehearsal… or ignite a real war.
